Some of us seem to forget that the hair is still every bit a part of our human bodies. This means that it is always affected by whatever the entire body system undergoes. This has led a lot of people to think that there might be a connection between hair health and stress. Could it be possible that there is a link between stress and hair loss?

Hair Loss

The two main factors affecting hair loss are genetic and hormonal changes. This implies that stress has less of a role in majority of hair loss cases. Stress however can make hair loss worse among people who are already genetically predisposed to it. In people who do not have hair loss due to genes and hormones, stress may be the major causal factor.

Stress and Hair Loss

All experts agree that there is a strong link between hair loss and stress. There are of course different types of stressful experiences. A person could be either physically or emotionally stressed. Hair loss can happen when either of the two types of stress appears. In most cases though, it is a combination of physical and emotional factors that work together to bring about hair loss. Examples of conditions and situations where the connection between stress and hair loss is apparent include the following:

- Pregnancy and childbirth – Surgery – Severe illness – Accident or trauma – Difficult personal life conditions or environment – Mentally, physically or emotionally draining work – Worrying too much over financial status or situation

Telogen Effluvium

People who have both stress and hair loss in their lives may be suffering from a condition known as telogen effluvium. Under normal circumstances, we all have 80%-90% of our hair strands in the growing phase and the remaining portion in the resting phase. Eventually the resting hair strands will fall off. In people with both stress and hair loss there is an increase in the normal percentage of hair strands in the resting phase. This results in a noticeable increase in hair shedding. All of a sudden you may feel that there may be more strands of hair on your brush or pillow than normal.

Another school of though is that stress greatly affects our immune system which in turn, influences the health of hair. The link between stress and hair loss may become more evident when the immune system is weakened by stress. Some experts theorize that because of the stressful conditions, the immune system may suddenly turn against the body, attacking cells and tissues including the hair follicles. This results in increased hair shedding.

Solutions

The solution is obvious when you are suffering both from stress and hair loss. Your first step would be to attempt to reduce stress or move away from a stressful situation. If you are severely ill for example, take time away from daily concerns to properly recuperate. If work is causing you a lot of stress, move away from it temporarily by having a vacation.

Since stressful situations are impossible to eliminate completely, you can learn to cope with it. Reduce stress and hair loss by learning stress reduction techniques like meditation and progressive relaxation.

The Hidden Wonders Of Chakra Healing

by Jai Dahalli

Understanding Chakra

An alignment point in the body that is able to receive, associate with and transmit the life force of energy is called a chakra. It is a word from Sanskrit which means the sphere of mans aural energy or a continually spinning wheel. Traditional Hindu text maintains that there are tens of thousands of chakra points in the human body. However, the most essential of these various chakras are the seven chakra points that run along the spinal column to the crown of the head.

The seven chakras are the root, navel and solar plexus chakras, the heart, throat, and brow and crown chakras. The receiving and transmitting of energy from the surroundings, the individuals involved and other essential surrounding elements involves these chakra points. The mystical, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, corporeal and psychological issues of an individual are influenced by the activity of the chakras.

Whether you chose to take on a point of view that comes from the Hindus mystical perception of the external and internal experience of an individual, the modern psychology of explanation of the consciousness and thought patterns or Chinese medicine, you will find a common thread within them all. This point is that the chakras are distinct when it comes to their explanations or definitions.

No matter if we are sleeping or awake the chakras are continually in motion. Our actions, deeds, glandular processes, structure, appearance and any physical disorders are influenced by this constant activity. An imbalance develops and then makes it known in other areas of our life or body when one or more of these chakras malfunctions for various reasons.

Each of the seven chakras associates with a specific endocrine gland of our body. Imbalance to the proper functioning of a chakra it will impact the emotional and physical processes of the body. Eventually, it will expose itself as a disorder of some type in the normal patterns of activity and or behavior in the associated endocrine gland.

Maintaining Chakra Balance By understanding the point above as a point of beginning, our chakras associate with any type of illness or disease that you may experience. Of course, the appearance of an imbalance or ailment may not be recognizable, although there may be emotional issues that resurface from out childhood which can influence the physical, spiritual and emotional senses.

One of the major causes of chakra imbalance is associated with repressed emotional baggage that develops from past trauma. These habitually buried emotional toxins of the subconscious influence the cellular level of our body. This is why we need to deal with any emotional baggage as it can help us maintain the necessary balance of the chakras. This will influence the healing of the physical being.

Healing the Body Chakras Activities such as Reiki, color therapy, aromatherapy provides balance by using the healing properties of crystals, gemstones and pendulums.

Many health conscious individuals enjoy performing the physical and breathing exercises of yoga as doing so is most beneficial for chakra balance maintenance.

There is a wide variety of chakra healing methods, such as using CDs and audio guided visualization tapes to inspire techniques of relaxation and natural healing or focusing on an object, thought or awareness for a particular amount of time. These help by reducing stress and channeling relaxation and mind power.

The chakras work constantly to maintain the body, even though we cannot see or touch them.

The body needs nutrition in order for there to be balance of the chakras and the pleasure of good health. There are particular foods that aid in maintaining the balance of each of the seven chakras.

The root chakra is nourished with foods rich in protein, spices and root type vegetables. Nuts, vanilla, cinnamon, sweet fruits and seeds such as caraway and sesame nourishes the sacral chakra that of our sexual being and creativity. Breads, cereals, pasta, yogurt, dairy products and spicy mints nourish our stomach or solar plexus chakra which enhances our sense of self love and self confidence.

Green tea and green leafy vegetables nourish the heart chakra. Consuming a lot of water, fruit juices and tangy fruits such as peaches and apples nourish the throat chakra.

The third eye chakra which is responsible for the sharpness of third eye sight and a profound sense of the psychical gifts we all have is nourished by consuming such items as grapes, blueberries, grape juice and wine.

Our emotional and spiritual center the crown chakra requires a good detoxification. This is done by ritual inhalation of herbs and incense and fasting.

We can influence our health when we influence or stimulate our chakras. Doing so inspires us to be more responsive in our lives as we become completely in tune with our general surrounding as well as all the other elements of the physical and metaphysical environment we live in.

Our body cannot function without apposite supply of food. Foods are essential to maintain healthy functioning of our system. Essentially, there are six types of nutrients and two types of nutrients. The list of six nutrients may include carbohydrate, fat, protein, vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. On the other hand, two non-nutrients may include fiber and water. In practice, our body needs a healthy balance of all nutrients in our diet in order to maintain healthy life. This article focuses on the various types of vitamins that contribute to the hair loss problems.

Para-Aminobenzoic Acid

Para-Aminobenzoic Acid (PABA) is one of the essential vitamins for hair loss problems. It belongs to B complex family. It functions like an anti-grey hair vitamin. A deficiency in PABA may lead to grey hair. Research has shown its effects on animal hair cells. It is seen that when animal cells have been reintroduced to the vitamin, normal coloration is restored.

Few researchers also suggest that PABA in combination with folic acid is found to be effective in restoring healthy hair. Lack of PABA may cause to affect hair color. A diet rich in vitamin B can restore hair color. It also aids in improving excellence and potency of hair growth. You can avail a plenty of PABA in liver, kidney, whole grain and yeast.

Inositol

It also belongs to vitamin B complex group. It is typically found in brain cells, muscles, liver, kidney, and eyes. It is seen that men loss their hair twice as fast as women. It is assumed that men usually lack Inositol, one of the primary vitamins for hair loss problems.

Not only Inositol aids in hair loss problems, but it also offers beneficial effects in different types of skin problems. It is very essential for bald patients. Almost all types of hair loss problems can be sorted out with the use of Inositol vitamin.

Biotin

This is also known as vitamin H. It also belongs to vitamin B complex group. It is also one of the most essential vitamins for hair loss problems. Inadequate supply of this vitamin may cause hair loss problems.

It functions in fat metabolism. Fat is essential for body growth including hair. It also helps in preventing premature graying of hair.

Egg yolks are great source of biotin. It is also available in kidney, liver, milk and yeast.

Vitamin E

It is one of the most beneficial vitamins for hair loss. It consists of antioxidant property that offers scalp stimulation by enhancing blood circulation. You can avail vitamin E from cold-processed vegetable oils, soybeans, raw seeds, and leafy green vegetables.

Although vitamin E offers a whole host of benefits, but the large intake is also associated with possible side effects including an increased blood pressure and decreased blood coagulation ability. So if you are suffering from high blood pressure or if you are taking anticoagulant medications, you should not take vitamin E supplements prior consulting with your doctor.

Vitamin C

It is known to offer anti-oxidizing benefits. It is one of the essential vitamins for hair loss problems. It helps maintaining healthy skin and hair. There are plenty of natural foods available that are rich in vitamin C. Citrus fruits, kiwi, strawberries, pineapples, tomatoes, green pepper, red pepper and many others are great source of vitamin C. It is so abundant in nature that you can hardly avoid it in your daily diet.

Vitamin B Complex

Niacin (vitamin B3), Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 contribute significantly in various health conditions. These are known as useful vitamins for hair loss problems. Vitamin B3 helps in promoting scalp circulation. Vitamin B3 is abundant in wheat germ, chicken, fish, turkey, and meat. However, large intake may cause harmful effects, known as niacin flush. Vitamin B5 helps preventing premature graying and hair loss problems. It is primarily available in egg yolks, whole grain cereals, and organ meats.
